Selections from a bigger questionare/interview

So I have a really curious friend and she loves to ask 1000's of questions, mostly because she has a beyond excellent workaholic issue. Jessica Lorenz my faithful assistant decided to go ahead and bombard me with questions regarding me and gaming. Right now I am going to just a post a few, she refuses to let me post the whole thing until she is sure all questions have been asked. LOL only you!!!

Q: So you NEVER re-sell, trade, sell off to anyone? How about gamestop, gamedude, gameforce or Japan Games? You spend enough time in all those stores.
A: Unless I have extra copies and I see it benefits both parties (in this case never to gamestop, gameforce or japan games) I WILL NEVER sell or otherwise part ways with any game, dvd, cd, tape, book etc I own.

Q: Related, Pack Rat Syndrome? Collection purposes?
A: Why is pack rat first???? It's 70% Collection related and 30% Pride. Why pride? Growing up no one ever bought me games just for kicks.

Q: Care to elaborate?
A: Sure! I did get games etc for birthdays Christmas etc you know? However due to many reasons I never just got a game just because. Wants that were outside of a gifting period had to be earned. So I earn mine and to sell them off to some mega corp for 1/15 of value is dumb.

Q: What was the first game you ever got as a gift?
A: Like most 80's babies Super Mario Bros and Duck Hunt in one cartridge with my N.E.S.

Q: First game you ever bought for yourself?
A: The Legend Of Zelda, it was my 2nd game.

Q: So you grew up playing any cooperative games the old way, next to another player?
A: Yes and no actually. (Here Joey gets up and leaves the room for a while and comes back with two boxes, out of one box comes out a black device) This is an X-Band Modem for the Sega Genesis (he pulls out a purple device from another box) and this is the S.N.E.S version. These puppies ran 50 bucks a piece and you had to pay 4.99+ or 9.99 a month to play on them. Basically it was XBox Live before XBox Live was born. No one ever see's it that way though they always see it as a failed abortion of sorts. However the project was a success in a way, sadly the user base kinda killed it.

Q: What do you mean the user base killed it?
A: (He actually sighs in deep and smiles) The X-Band community, local and nationwide was very very well knit. Most of us even formed groups outside the network, so like I said well before live made this popular outside of pc gaming. Many things came of it including a way to mess with at the time popular external voicemail services that you could retrieve your messages by calling an 800 number. Popular also was a way to use the device to DDoS other non X-band networks, make free long distance calls, and even annoy neighbors. Tack on the standard BS talk, plug pulling, that lives on in PSN and XBL and yea.

Q: Any memories outside of the network?
A: Many I ran with a well sized crowd that I met on there, however after a huge event in my life I was forced and I do mean forced to part ways, these days I only at times talk to one out of like 15 people I met on there that I called friends.

I am gonna end it here, also I will do a full write up on X-Band, the modem, the community and some of the real life events that came from it. Please note that the real life events potions will only be posted on Deadlysoundz 2.

Peace for now!!!!
